Finding Your Wonder Child

I recently spent two months in Ireland, a lifelong dream finally fulfilled. The experience brought me back to a part of myself I didn’t even know existed – a place of wonder, joy, adventure, and possibility. I felt more “real” and more like myself than I have felt in my entire life.

How did I lose this part of myself? Or more accurately, why didn’t I have access to her?

Becoming “Real”

Do you remember the old story of The Velveteen Rabbit? It is a throwback to a much earlier time (1922), but the story and the metaphors are timeless.

The Velveteen Rabbit is a classic children’s story about a stuffed toy rabbit who longs to become a real, living animal through the power of a child’s love.

The young boy in the story receives the beautiful stuffed rabbit for Christmas, but soon ignores him in favor of newer, more expensive mechanical toys. The rabbit feels lonely until a wise, old toy named the Skin Horse explains that toys can become “real” if a child loves them deeply and completely enough.

Eventually, the boy’s nurse gives him the rabbit to sleep with. The boy and the rabbit become inseparable, playing in the garden and sharing bedtime stories. The rabbit grows scuffed, worn, and well-loved, but he is incredibly happy because he knows he is finally Real to the boy, even though his appearance is shabby.

There is more to this story, about the rabbit becoming truly alive through the intervention of the Nursery Magic Fairy. At the end of the story, he skips off into the forest to live with the other wild rabbits. But for the purpose of our story, we’re going to stop here and focus on the most important part.

Finding My Wonder Child

I lost the real me when life taught me that my job was to take care of others so that I could be safe and accepted. I had to be what I thought others wanted. I was living my life for everyone but myself. When I realized that the Child in me desperately needed my attention, I turned inward and started giving myself the same love and compassion I had showered on everyone else.

Why did I wait so long? Who knows? Sometimes life needs to throw you something extreme so that you stop and listen. It wasn’t until my life had lost all meaning and purpose that I had to dig deep to find this part of me again. To unearth the Wonder Child in me that held joy and possibility. I needed her, more than I even knew.

Why am I telling you this story?

Through the course of your life, you were trained to believe certain things, about yourself, about the world and the people in it, and how you should act and behave. Much of this social education taught you to show up in false ways.

Look around you, you will see a world full of pretense. We’re all trying to appear polished, flawless, and worthy of being noticed and liked. But when we take on this veneer, we lose our authenticity. We are just playing a part to look good.

How to Find Your Authentic Self

Becoming “real” means digging deep into the messy places. Sitting with our hurts and vulnerabilities, loving and accepting ourselves even when the hurts of life have left us feeling “shabby” and unworthy.

Being with yourself in radical honesty may bring you to the realization that you have spent years hiding from who you truly are, because it meant survival. There is a quiet heartbreak in this truth. But to the survival brain, acceptance was survival. So you locked away your “real” self to meet the societal demand to conform.

Under all those layers of conformity is the real you, the Wonder Child, the part of you that holds your unfiltered joy, deep sensitivity to wonder and beauty, creativity, and authenticity.

That Child may be loud and passionate, honest and unfiltered, and feel a little scary when first set free. But this is where your true joy and happiness live. Because being real and authentic bestows a stunning freedom on the person who reaches for it.

Do you feel disconnected from the real you? From your spiritual essence and what is most authentic? We would like to help you reclaim your truest Self.

When I formulated our flower essence remedies, I wanted to create a remedy that would support getting in touch with their Wonder Child and reclaiming their deeper, more authentic Self. I wanted others to be able to access that part of themselves that is open to wonder, joy, adventure, and possibility.

Our Connection Remedy is a combination of flower essences and shamanic healing energy. It may assist with resolving the issues related to disconnection from Spirit and the authentic Self, and over-identification with “parts” that have taken on false identities.

How The Connection Remedy Works

The essences of Ayahuasca and Chacruna create a “communication bridge” from the brain to the body, helping you make mental connections about yourself. It is also calming, loving and supportive, and serves as an amplifier of the other flower essences in this remedy.

Flower essences are prepared from a sun infusion of the plant or flower into water, then diluted, potentized and preserved in brandy. In this form, the remedy does not contain any psychoactive properties.

Angelsword essence addresses confusion or misinformation in spiritually channeled messages. It protects from outside influences and entities so one can receive clear information from one’s Higher Self without interference and release any energies that entered while the aura was open.

Bush Iris essence addresses uncertainty in belief of the existence of a spiritual realm, materialism, and fear of death. This essence opens people to their spirituality and opens the doorway to accessing their higher perceptions. Useful when just starting meditation or a path of ‘conscious’ spiritual growth.
